ALIGNMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE GA-DANGME DEITIES AS KPELE OR KLAMA

Among the Ga and the Dangme people, they have numerous deities. These deities have alignments with the type of music they mostly respond to or prefer or the language they ,mostly prefer to be communicated in. We have the Mey/klama deities, the Kpele deities, Kpãa deities, Okpili/Yifa deities and the Obutu-kpele deities all under the GaDangme Kpele and Klama cult.

 

§         Kpele deities mainly respond to the Kpele rhythm and communicate in Ga, Obutu or the Kyripon language.

 

§        Mey/Klama deities respond to the Mey/Klama rhythm and mostly communicate in Dangme.

 

§       Obutu-Kpele deities also respond to the Obutu rhythm and communicate in a language closely related to that of the Kpele deities but with minimal variation or some form of a dialect

 

§  Yifa deities mostly communicate in the Ewe language

 

In general, we have the spirit called Topia, who is the owner and keeper of the dead. He chooses to allow spirits in and out of the human world.

Every deity also has a wife called Afieye (1^st wife), Afiorkor (2^nd wife) and Asemanyaa (3^rd wife).

So we list out the names of the deities and we begin with the deities at Nungua and climb up to all GaDangme towns

For the Teshie deities, we have the Osabu-Ayiku wulomor who is the custodian of the deities. There are different quarters each with their respective elder deities. For the Gbugbla and Kle-Musun quarter, Togble Digbleh and Maa Lalue-Baake are the elder deities but in terms of administration, it is the Ayiku wulomor or the Osabu-Ayiku wulomor who is the recognized elder Eulomor or chief Priest
