NAWURI PROVERBS

Nawuri is a Guan language spoken in the Northern and Oti Regions of Ghana. And we look at some wise sayings in the Nawuri Language

1. It is not on the day of a woman in deep labour that she is advised to close her legs and not open her legs in public. It might be a good advise at the wrong time.

2. It is the feathers of a bird that makes it bigger than its actual size.

3. A chief that display arrogance and total disrespect to his subjects and people will end up carrying his own stool to durbar grounds and back without any accomplice.

4. Everyone in this World wants a fool to do all the dirty work and run all the dangerous errands for them, but none is praying and desiring to give birth to one.


5. As long as you continue to block others from reaching and counting nine (9), it will be extremely difficult for you to also reach and count ten (10).


6. Only a fool goes to bargain for the price of fish in the river with a fisherman yet to be caught by the fisherman.

People also reach out to me for tourism services due to the fact that many companies overprice their services. I have considered the fact that I am still learning and travelling with someone who wishes to know a new place is a plus for me, so - I do not price the tourist any amount rather the tourist pays my transportation to the place of visit

They are found within the Northern parts of Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso and the Ivory Coast. In Burkina Faso, they form the majority of the people. COMPLETE HISTORY OF THE GUAN PEOPLE AND THEIR LANGUAGES

THE GUANS (This article is directly sourced from my book: Know Ghana Better) The Guans believe themselves to be a branched family with the Akan tribe (not all of the Guans though). They migrated from Egypt and through several linguistic zones got to Mali. Their territory extended from parts of present day Mali to present day Senegal. They formed clans and the clans were Ndenye, Shuoyi and Le. The clans were formed for purposes of defence and for other linguistic and cultural functions. After some years, a group of Guans who were at present-day Senegal and members of the Shuoyi clan called the Ngbanye set off to Ghana. Perhaps there was a pre-meditated decision by the Ngbanye and the other Guans to find a more suitable settlement. It is also believed that the leader of the Ngbanye sought the assistance of a soothsayer who foretold him that he will be great in a foreign land. THE ACCRA ZOO (ACHIMOTA ECOLOGOCAL GARDENS)

 The Accra zoo which used to be situated at Kanda experienced management issues for which it was announced that the zoo was being moved to Kumasi so to allow for innovations. Well, after the long wait, the Accra Zoological Gardens has been move to Achimota hence the Achimota Ecological Park is its new name. The zoo lies 1700m deep within the Achimota Forest with poles mounted to direct people entering the zoo. Well, monitor lizards as well as snakes walk freely in the zoo but that does not mean they attack people using the pathway to the zoo. There are monkeys, crocodiles, lions, snakes, different species of birds, deers, antelopes etc all in the zoo. There are hopes to expand the zoo to include more animals. It is worth paying a visit to the zoo so to help management raise more money to help expand it.
